The name, Rita, means Pearl, Child of Light: fitting for a person who spread light and happiness wherever she went. Rita loved life was funny, loving and always positive. You’d never hear her speak an ill word. She never saw any reason for being negative; her glass was perpetually half full. She tapped her feet to the music of the 50’s and 6o’s especially Frankie Avalon. Her favorite song reminded us that Charlie Brown, he was a clown. Day trips with her sisters were a joy, with Rita always saying something silly to get a chuckle. In family card games Rita was honest to a fault; her sister Mary, not so much. And she always entertained her nieces and nephews in battles over board games, making faces to amuse the kids. She loved a good time so it’s hard to believe that 2014 was the first time in her life that Rita dressed up for Halloween as Zombie.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband, John; mother of Shawn and grandmother of two. She was a special sister to Mary Peters (Butch), Peter Lubas and Dolores Fernandez (Lou).
