Richard G Edwards

“Why aren’t we flying? Because getting there is half the fun. You know that.” – Clark W. Griswald. For Richard family was number one and he loved nothing more than to pile them into the car for a cross country excursion. His trips included Disney and the World’s Fair in Tennessee. He was never one to miss any of his kid’s or grandkid’s sporting events. He also loved LBI and especially crabbing, surf fishing and metal detecting. He loved the music of the 50’s and 60’s and implored his kids to sing along: “sing it with one lip.” For him boost slushies only came in one size, double gulp. Before retiring he kept our lights on, running generators for PSE&G. rnrnHis good looks, sense of humor and ever present smile attracted a young girl named Catherine Canzanese. Their High School romance would lead to 42 years of marriage and three children: Carrie (Alan), William (Jennifer) and Jason (Jennifer). He loved to spoil his 11 grandchildren and is also survived by his mother, Mary and two brothers, John Alfred and Glenn Richard.rnrnCome celebrate 62 family centered years (11-11-47 to 2-26-10) Wednesday 5-7 p.m. and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, where there will be a noon service. Carrie, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. We will keep your father in our prayers. He was a good man who would do anything for his kids and grandchildren.

We are saddened to hear of Rickys passing and wanted to send you our condolences. I am his cousin and Marion Edwards son who was Rickys aunt. We are living in Florida now but I had many fond memories of growing up with Ricky,Glenn and Alfred. We were always playing sports games and had lots of good clean fun. My work took me away from Jersey as an adult so I didnt get to meet you his family. Again, we send our sincere sympathies. R.Gary and Joanne Rogers
