Pura Andrade

(December 11, 1935 - October 6, 2013)

Pura learned the value of hard work by working hard. She thought nothing of working from the time the sun rose to when it set, seven days a week. She developed her work ethic in Portugal, and brought it with her when she immigrated to the US. A seamstress for many years, she would often work double shift and still somehow find the time to clean the house, tend to her garden, go grocery shopping and make not one, but often two proper Portuguese dinners. Still, it was all done to perfection. Her garden produced the best vegetables and most beautiful flowers, her cooking was second to none and her skill with a sewing machine was unparalleled, even if she lacked a fashion sense for herself.
As a girl in Portugal, Pura was pursued by a young man named Anibal. She tried everything she could to dissuade him, but his persistence proved triumphant. Together, they moved to America and made their home in Riverside. Their lives were blessed by their children: Albino (Bonnie) of Riverside, Margaret Ferrari (Robert) of Riverside and the late Fernando, and again by their grandchildren: Leah, Robby and Steven and their great-grandson, Christopher. She is also survived by her brothers: Francisco (Adelide), Humberto (Anna) and Jose and her sister, Julia.
Come celebrate Pura’s 77 wonderful years (Dec. 11, 1935-Oct. 6, 2013) Friday from 9 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will be at 11. Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 3 Eves Dr., Suite 310 Marlton, NJ 08053.

    Bino and Margaret:
Your mom was a special lady. She always made me feel comfortable and special. I will never forget her kindness. She had a great sense of humor and was very honest. Her honesty was what I admired about her. She loved her family dearly. May god bless your family and may your memories of your mother get you though this difficult time.
