Paula Marsiglia

In 1996 Paula experienced firsthand the benefits of E.M.S. The Emergency squad worked tirelessly to transport her mother to the hospital through 30 inches of snow. She decided to “pay it forward” and dedicate herself to the profession. In 2011 she was the VFW’s EMT Person of The Year in Delran, Burlington County and the state of NJ. She was a dedicated parent to her four children: “I’m the boss” she’d often remind them, but she softened up when it came to her great-grandkids. She delighted in having them be the boss. In her spare time she texted running commentary on the Bachelor and Shark Tank and enjoyed country music. She may not have been the greatest cook, but her Chili was tops.rn She is survived by her husbandof 38 years, Walt; her children, Michele Iwanicki (Alan), Linda Boyd, Lisa Wright (Eric) and Tammy Patalon (Elwood); step children, Matthew Marsiglia (Donna), Laura Udzinski (Steve), and Elaine Green; her brother, Donald Koch (Anne); 22 grandchildren and 9½ great-grandchildren.rn Come celebrate 71 years of dedicated life, Friday 6-9 p.m. and Saturday 9-10 a.m. at Resurrection Parish (Holy Name site), 260 Conrow Road, Delran NJ where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Delran Emergency Squad, 900 Chester Ave, P.O. Box 1310 Delran NJ 08075 will be appreciated.

We will never forget Paula and her: kindnesses to us & others, dedication to our Lord & Savior, honor to the Virgin Mary, and her joy when her two granddaughters were asked to be Altar Servers for our daughter’s wedding 15 years ago. We are sorry for your loss of your Wife, Mother, GrandMother, GreatGrandMother and Best Friend. Surely Paula was greeted at Heaven’s Gates by Jesus, with His arms outstretched for a “Welcome Home!” hug. rnWe include this poem to help allievate your grief:rn”To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say… but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I’m writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there’s no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight. Remember that I’m with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, “I welcome you.” It’s good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on. I need you here badly; you’re part of my plan. There’s so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.” God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night, the day’s chores put to flight… God and I are closest to you… in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years… because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o’er. I’m closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too… that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who’s in sorrow and pain, then you can say to God at night……”My day was not in vain.” And now I am contented….that my life has been worthwhile, knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low, just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you’re walking down the street, and you’ve got me on your mind; I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it’s time for you to go…. from that body to be free, remember you’re not going…..you’re coming here to me.” Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author) Copyright 1998-2007 http://www.ruthann1.com

To my Mommom, whom I miss so much, 20 years isn’t a really long time, but I will be forever grateful for the 20 years of memories I had with you as my grandmother. There are way too many memories to pick just one, so I will focus on our weekly ritual. I always looked forward to turning on channel 6 at 8pm on Monday knowing that shortly after I would receive a text from you. While you are no longer here for me to converse with on Monday night, I will keep our ritual alive because it will make me think of you and for 2 hours I will be filled with happy memories of nights with you. If there was any bond in this world as close as the bond between me and my mom, it was the bond between the two of you, and for that I will keep my promise and take care of her for you. You were the best grandmother a girl could have, and while you will not be here to watch me graduate next year, I know you will be in heaven smiling down on me and that will make it okay. Continue to watch over us with GiGi by your side and some day down the road we will meet again. I love you and miss you more than anything in the world! Thanks for 20 incredible years!
