Olga – Parker

Olga – Parker

rnIn 1963 her late husband, Joe, told her she was moving to Broad Street. In anticipation she brushed up on the mummers strut only to later find out that there was a Swedesboro Broad Street. The move from a major metropolis to a tiny town was culture shock, but she became a fixture in her community. She was stubborn and feisty but had a huge heart and love for kids. She became a substitute grandmother to the kids she baby-sat and beamed with pride when she attended their graduations. As a single mother she needed to be firm: question her reasons for her decisions and you’d likely hear her common refrain: “Cause I’m the Mom.” It’s how she was known to everyone she met and she was sure to meet everyone. Even on vacation when she wasn’t decorating her space to make it her own she was meeting and greeting. After a one week stay she was on a first name basis with an entire campground.rnShe is survived by her children Anthony DiFebbo (Judy), Angel Bowens (Steve), Nelda Amatuzzi (William) and Jessie Atkinson (Dave); 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and her companion, Gilbert Mendoza.rnCome celebrate 75 maternal years Tuesday 6-8 pm and Wednesday form 10:00 am at Daley Life Celebration Studio 1518 Kings Highway, Swedesboro where there will be a 11:00 am service. Donations to Caring Hospice, 102 Gaither Drive, Suite 2, Mt. Laurel NJ 08054 will be appreciated. Tell us a great story about Olga at lifecelebrationstudio.com.

My mother always wanted to feed someone whether they hungry or not. I have missed her cooking for a few years now because she just wasn’t up to it anymore, but if i close my eyes i see her at the pot of “gravy” stirring it, making sure “it doesn’t stick” later in life i found out that meant burn. I love you mom ,miss you so much already and hope you are kicking up your heals with your siblings glad to be all together again. Till we meet again Olga Jean. I love you, your daughter, Nelda

My deepest heartfelt sympathies to all of Olgas’ family here at the holiday season….One thing is for sure, she would not want everyone mopeing around and being sad over her…she would want you all to have a drink and celebrate her life..I am sorry I can not be there in body but know that I am with you all in spirit during this trying time…and I celebrate the fact that she is not limited to a body any longer…she is free to roam where she may…am glad my mom has some company….Olga was like my second mother, as I’m sure alot of us would say…but know she is having her own party without us mind you….Her kind and thoughtful ways will always live within all of her children. And as you teach it to your children know the love to all she came in contact with…I remember her saying if you can’t say something nice about someone don’t say anything at all…I love your video of her life it is wonderful and thanks for making me a part of it…If any of you need me you can reach me at my e-mail…My love to all…Carolyn XO
