Lawrence Bundens

Guys who raise 4 daughters have a special place in heaven. From the days of his youth growing up on the farm he had his hands in the soil. 5 a.m. found him on his ¾ acre garden chasing down any weeds and spreading fertilizer; if his beloved Phillies were on he’d have the radio at his side. About the only thing that could pull him out of the garden was a call from brother, Ben. They’d both drop what they were doing and head off to chase a little white ball in Pitman. He watched a little sports on T.V. (or maybe every sport on T.V) and played some darts for the Riverside. If it didn’t move, Larry painted it: no tape, no drop cloth and perfect every time. When friends and neighbors needed a little woodworking project done, Larry was always there, saw in hand. He graduated Swedesboro High School, headed of to work at the Repauno DuPont Plant and settled his family in Mickleton.
The freshman Larry was walking in a parade in Swedesboro when he met an 8th grade girl named Audrey Hurff. They’d date all through high school (movies thrice a week) and marry shortly after. Their 67 year union was blessed by 4 daughters, JoAnne Penza, Patricia Pappas (James), Susan Costill (Kirby) and Janet DeVault; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Larry missed his 88th year by 6 hours, so come celebrate 87 great years Tuesday 9-11 a.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro where there will be an 11 a.m. service. Donations to Alzeimer’s Assoc (www.alz.org/donate or 3 Eves Dr #310, Marlton NJ 08053) will be appreciated.
