Joseph “Joey” Giannizzero

Joseph “Joey” Giannizzero

Joey lived in New York, New Jersey, Florida and St. Thomas, collecting many a friend along the way. People were just naturally drawn to his great smile and easygoing nature. He never had an unkind word and if there was a problem, Joey was the first to be there to lend a hand. He loved animals: always a dog by his side along with some snakes and lizards over the years. His nieces and nephews adored him; Joey was the fun uncle. Of course, he had an adventurous side. Four wheels may move the body but two move the soul: motocross as a kid led to stunt riding street bikes as an adult. If his T.V. was on he’d be catching up on Breaking Bad or anything else he could binge watch. He loved all kinds of music with the exception of Christmas music and loved to cheer for the Raiders. He’d spend 11 years in St. Thomas; a little bit of work and a lot of fishing. He learned to free dive and spearfish and collected a few lobsters over the years. He worked for many years fixing generators. Even in death Joey remained generous and caring: as an organ donor his tissues and eyes were donated so that others might live a full life.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Stan) Googins; his siblings, Teresa (Jay) Silva and Heather (John) Cox; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Come celebrate 41 great years Saturday, April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, 1518 Kings Highway Swedesboro and share a story about Joey at the 6 p.m. service.
