Joseph C Schlump Sr.

Joseph C Schlump Sr.

Farming is more than a lifelong commitment, it’s a calling. Although Joe was asked to play ball for the Brooklyn Dodgers, he knew his calling was the family farm in Mickelton. While it’d be easy to question such a decision, he only needed to look to his late wife Ethel, and the children they raised there to know he made the right choice. Between the farm and his 32 years at the Hercules Plant in Paulsboro, his life was centered around farming, work and family. But Joe always found an opportunity to hunt, a lifelong endeavor. In 1988 he and Ethel moved to a log cabin on top of a mountain in VT. Even though he could hunt 12 months a year, the lure of his grandkids brought him back to NJ in 1996. With less time to hunt, he added golf and gardening to his favorite activities. His neighbors will surely miss those vegetables. rnrnHe is survived by his children: Joseph, Jr., John, Jordan, Janice and Jeffrey, a sister, Nancy Fehlauer, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. rnrnCome celebrate 82 farming years Wednesday from 5 PM at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro, where the service will be at 5:30. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Lighthouse Hospice 1040 N. Kingshighway, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.rnrn

My family and I offer our deepest sympathies to the whole family. We will miss the caring loving Uncle that we knew as childern. We always enjoyed visiting him. When we were younger he gave each one of us a boys nick name and loved to tease us with them. His life impacted many people and he will be missed by all. All of his childern have suffered a great lost, once again our condolences go out to his childern Jay, Jack, Joyce, Jordon, Janice and Jeffery and all extended family members. He will be missed by all.

my deepest sympathies to the whole family, I think there should some funny memories that we all should share, this is sort of one. I remember when I was little Jeff and I would play with the dogs in the pen in the back yard in Mickleton, well we would feed them, and for some very strange reason I began to love the smell of dry dog food, so even today when I walk down the pet food aisle at the supermarket I smell the dry dog food, my kids look at me like I’m nuts, srangely enough I still love that smell, it all goes back to my childhood with Jeff. Well I hope that strange story puts alittle smile on someones face… God Bless all of you
