Jon A Herbert

Jon A Herbert

Jon and his son, Jeff loved the Bridgeport Speedway so much that he initially refused to go to his daughter’s wedding if it was on a Saturday. Even when he relented he hoped that she would at least have the reception there, but no such luck. He loved to tell a great joke and E-mailed them on a daily basis (they were always tailored to the recipient) and was a born storyteller. Profits will decline at the The Diner in Paulsboro ; Jon was on a first name basis with waitresses and patrons alike. Although he was mechanically challenged, Jon was an encyclopedia of old car knowledge. If Glen Beck was speaking no one else could: Jon would listen while sipping his Rock Star energy drink. Nineteen years ago he started coaching the Challengers Baseball Team when his son started T Ball. Even when Jeff hung up his glove Jon remained active. He was recently nominated for the Bob Oldt Award and was Awarded the Coach of the Year in 2008. rnAt bowling league he picked up many a spare, but more importantly he met the love of his life, the late Catherine (nee Schneider). Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Zanes (Darren) and son, Jeffrey and granddaughter (and fellow storyteller), Jenica Catherine Zanes. rnCome celebrate 63 quick witted years Thursday, April 22, from 9 to 10:45 am at Daley Life Celebration Studio, 1518 Kings Hwy., Swedesboro where the Service will be at 11am.rnDonations to the Gloucester Co. Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Delsea Dr., Clayton, NJ 08312 in memory of his late dog and best bud, Wilson will be appreciated. rn

I’m going to miss Jon’s emails, smart comments about his daughter, Jen, and of course, his quick comebacks. He had a funny comment about everything, especially if it involved Jen. May he be reunited with Cathy in the Kingdom of Heaven for eternity. nnJen, Jeffrey, Darren and Jenica, may God bless you and your family during this difficult time.
