Janice Chicone

(Sep 19, 1946 to Nov 22, 2012)

“To be happy at home is the result of all ambition” – Samuel Johnson. This was never a problem for Janice. She didn’t need to search the world over to find contentment, when her house in Riverside was filled with friends and family she wanted for nothing. Sundays were meant for huge breakfasts and even larger family dinners. But, everyday was for the grandkids. They were the center of her universe; her skills with an X-Box or Wii always illustrated how much they meant to her. When problems arose, she was the first everyone turned to. She had the uncanny ability to quickly defuse any situation or forget an argument and see the larger picture. But, when she did have time away from the house, her favorite destination was Harrah’s in Atlantic City to battle the video poker machines.rn Janice is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerald Chicone, her daughter Nikki Chicone-Shively (Walt) and her grandchildren: Samantha Chicone and Kasie Chicone-Shively, all of Riverside. She is the daughter of Delores Ginn of Cherry Hill and the sister of Sandy Carhart of Riverton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and several Aunts and Uncles.rn Come celebrate Janice’s 66 wonderful years (Sep. 19, 1946-Nov. 22, 2012) Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home 337 Bridgeboro St. Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church (St. Peter’s Site), Riverside. Interment private.rn

Jerry and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I only have fond memories of working with Janice at Alpha Dental…I still chuckle remembering when she came into work and told me how scared Jerry was of my driving the night I drove to Philly for the wedding,Jerry trying to hold on to anything he could find..I still can’t believe she is no longer with us. My heart goes out to all of you. With all of my deepest sympathy and love, Debbie

I started working with Janice at EDP in Philadelphia. She actually was very helpful in training me at the time. Later we worked together in Cinnaminson,Palmyra and Riverton for JCI. I will miss her friendly, cheerful, personality and the “Good Times” working and partying together.

No matter who you were, she was known as Grandmom. I always loved coming over there and seeing her in her favorite spot on the sofa, and greeting me with the most loving, beautiful, and comforting smile. The joy she had when I talked to her about how my children was amazing. Grandmom you were such a beautiful woman in and out. You will truly be missed by many.

My cousin, whom I called Aunt Jannie due to our 25yr age difference, will be greatly missed. While the distance of 1000 miles has limited the quality time creating adult memories, I have 13yrs of wonderful childhood memories that will last for eternity. I find comfort in my most recent memory from the summer of 2011 when Aunt Jannie greeted me and my children with the brightest smile and warmest embrace, as if time and distance have never seperated us. I can still hear her voice calling my name and the sound of her laughter. Our family has a new Angel to watch over us. My heart hurts for Uncle Jerry, cousin Nikki (closest person I’ll ever have to a sister), Sam and Kasie for the sudden loss of an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. I wish I could be with you during this difficult time. Love to you all.

Since I don’t receive the paper I read this at work on Tuesday. We have not been in touch for years and never crossed one another’s path during that time. We were friends since grammer school but drifted apart thru the years after Nikki was born. I am very sorry for the family’s loss. Sincerely, Linda
