Jackson Sadlowski

Jackson Sadlowski

He may have only been 13, but Jackson was sophisticated well beyond his years. Six feet tall and a gentle soul. He was intuitive about people’s emotions; those in a bad place would get his support. He knew how to listen, and you knew you were being heard. He was the anti-teen. Jackson had forged his own way: he hated rap and loved Imagine Dragons, despised Nike, and preferred American Eagle Outfitters; Chess over sports; independent achievement over teamwork; The Office over Sponge Bob. He collected historical artifacts and could find joy in an old oil painting that most would just discard. It was a bad idea to challenge him at the game “Do you know?”; Jackson’s head was full of sundry odd facts. His prize possessions were his gaming computer and his SE bike. He was patient and played the long game: down the shore he would head to the boardwalk casino, spend a whole summer gathering tickets to win the biggest prize. His only exception to his adversity to teamwork was his closest friend and partner in crime, his sister, Riley. They did everything together down to doing the dishes: one would clean up, the other would pack up. He loved horror films for the adrenaline rush and cooked Asian food; Jackson was PF Chang but with custom sauces. He aspired to be a food scientist in his bid to cure Type I diabetes.
Jackson is survived by his parents, John and Janine, his sister Riley, and grandparents, Frances Fries (the late John), and Joe and Dawn Sadlowski; and many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

  22. Jay Capperella says:

John, Janine and Riley. We got to know you when we moved on to Fulling Mill Lane in November 2015. Instantly our boys became friends. I fondly remember them – and Riley and Frankie Monaghan – running through our house, and our yard, playing. I remember the boys testing out the watershed basin at the end of the street. They became instant buds. Jackson would come over, ring the doorbell and and in his reserved way, kindly ask if Roman wanted to play. It warmed our hearts knowing our boy had a new friend close by in our new neighborhood. And it was fun to see Roman grow up quickly as he would be allowed to go to ‘Jackson’s house’ to play without mom and dad having to accompany him. He was only 7 and he loved the freedom. The age gap and school naturally had them gravitate to other friends, but we will forever remember the times our boy got to know yours. It is an incredibly confusing and sad time right now, and the memories and pictures we have of our two boys makes us weep. But with time and healing those same pictures will be a source of great memories, of a beautiful boy, with a big soft grin, that cared about our son. It will bring us joy. We wish you strength in this very hard time, love as your neighbors and friends, peace in knowing Jackson is in a good place, and hope that time will be your friend to help you in your life journey. We will never forget your Jackson. With sincere love, The Capperellas.

  28. Katie says:

    Sadlowski Family,

My name is Katie. I was the Healey families nanny for 7 years, and through the Healey children, I met Jackson. I remember Jackson from his time in St. Rose of Lima, and the swim club in the summer. What an outstanding person he was. Although I didn’t know him very well, the small and short amount made it clear the kind of person he was. Wiser beyond his years, extremely kind, respectful, and mature. Included and cared for everyone. I can not express my deepest condolences to your family enough, and my endless thoughts and prayers. Jackson truly touched lives he may not have even been aware of. That is an extremely special gift.

  29. The Fernands Family says:

So sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family.
