Rich or poor, in good health or bad, Ed looked out for everyone else; pay it forward was his mantra. Teaching was his passion and after 20 years he retired from Wilbur Watts Intermediate School. As a dad he was from the old school; strict, but only because he loved his children so much. When the grands came along he built three unique relationships with them. Ed maintained friendships for a lifetime. He had tennis buddies and bowled in a league in Burlington. The gifted baker always left a little room for dessert. Behind the stove he’d whip up some mean cakes and breads. He travelled everywhere from Greece to Hawaii; half for enjoyment, half because he was curious about the rest of the world. Summertime found him with a rod in his hand, surf fishing in LBI and Wildwood Crest or riding his bike cruising through town.
His years at Trenton State earned him more than a degree. It’s there he’d meet the love of his life. Ed and Barbara shared 53 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Christopher (wife Barbara) and Melissa (husband Christian); and 3 grandchildren: Nick, Amanda, and Olivia; and 1 great-grandchild Alexis. He is survived by his sisters, Joan Rogers and Georgianne Lehman and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
