Afonso Dos Santos

Afonso Dos Santos

He loved his homeland of Portugal, but when he lost a daughter to the United States, Afonso packed his bags and left for our shores. For Afonso, family always came first. He passed on his values to his grandchildren: work hard, save your money, be respectful. He was generous to a fault: when there was a need Avo was always first in line to help out. Afonso was an entrepreneur who dabbled in everything from rail yard maintenance to rental units. He dressed for success; even on the beach he’d don a suit with a fedora hat. He did his own home repairs, even if his work wasn’t always the best. At the age of 94 he constructed a scaffold so he could paint his house. He didn’t find anything out of the ordinary with it, but his neighbors and the police became concerned though they all admired the craftsmanship of his structure. And of course he had his suit on. Always a prankster, Avo loved to joke and tease about who was dating who, but one thing was for certain; blue eyed Portuguese men are a hit with the ladies.
Afonso was predeceased by his wife, Maria Dos Santos, his grandson, Daniel Almeida and his siblings.
He is survived by his daughter, Alice Santos, his grandson, Joseph Almeida and his wife Michele, his granddaughter, Olga Carlson and her husband, Richard, his grandson, Anthony Almeida and his wife, Lisa, his grandson Brian Almeida and his wife, Amber and his great grandchildren, Brandon and Corinne Almeida and Ryan and Mark Carlson.
