He was a man of profound faith and self-taught finesse; he left behind a legacy defined by capability and was very vocal in his devotion. John was born on High Hill Road, Swedesboro and lived there until he married Anna where he resided in Mullica Hill.
John’s career was marked by a tireless work ethic. He was a Supervisor of Maintenance for 28 years for Stolker Realty in Philadelphia. Prior to that he spent a few years in the roofing business with his uncles. He spent 10 years as a maintenance supervisor for Kingsway Regional HS. Once he retired, he then studied at a seminary and became an Ordained Minister. He was a learner of his own making—teaching himself to speak Italian fluently and to play the guitar, a talent he shared generously during church services .
He liked to cook. John made a wicked sauce, and the pizza! He was a dedicated fan of boxing and the Eagles. He moved through life with a reassuring presence and a sharp, loving wit. Of course, his happiest times may have been tending to his garden and lawn on his trusty John Deere. He was a member of Mullica Hill Baptist Church and a past president of the Lions Club.
John is survived by his wife Anna (formerly Barbagallo) who he always made sure everyone knew she was the love of his life. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Melissa (Les), Angie, Rosalie and Cathy; many grandchildren, many great grandchildren and also his brothers, Fred (Joanne) and Anthony (Jane).
Come celebrate 92 great years Thursday Oct 1, 10:30 to 11:30 at Mullica Hill Baptist Church, 18 South Main Street, Mullica Hill where there will be a noon service. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
