Harry C Jackson

Harry knew that children have more of a need for role-models than of critics. Like a safety net, he was there not to control his kids’ lives, but to allow them to learn lessons on their own, and to pick them up when need be. He always had an open ear and the right advice. Leading by example, his strong work ethic was passed on by him working days at Honeywell in Fort Washington, and nights tending bar at the Stardust Ballroom. Given, the second job was a labor of love. Always a people person, he was more focused on social interaction than the tips. Harry could never pass on a good deal, or pass by a car dealership. Given, his wife always preferred when splurged on Tastykakes rather than a new car. rnThe Stardust gave Harry more than a paycheck. It’s here he met a woman named Merlyn (nee Daugherty). Their lives were blessed by 31 years of marriage before her passing in 2008. He is survived by his children: Donna Tasca (Warren) of Cherry Hill, Frank (Marie) of Drexel Hill, Raymond Johansen of Burlington Twp., Susan Johansen of Willingboro and David Eiting of Tuckerton, and his 4 grandchildren.rnCome celebrate Harry’s 83 wonderful years (Apr. 20, 1927-Nov. 16, 2010) Sunday 6:30-8:30 PM and Monday from 10 AM the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will follow at 11.
