“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Dorothy took the time to enjoy life’s little things. Something as small as finding the right box for a present would make her light up and she had a way of mixing shopping and eating into all of her activities. As a mom she was always more of a friend. She was the lenient grandmother: being grounded came to an end when she walked through the door. She loved to see the sights offered by a leisurely car ride, especially in Alabama where she’d enjoy the change of season, farms and the view of the mountains. She kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles and had a lifelong love affair with the shore. rnrnDorothy met a young man named Charles at a church function. Their 58 year union would be blessed by two daughters, Donna Gasper (William) and Carol Hunter (Steven); 5 grandchildren: Ashley (Larry), Bonnie, Robert, Stevie (Karen), and Kristen (Tom); and 8 great-grandchildren: Hunter, O’Reilly, Mason, Alijah, Angelina, Tommy, Sophia and Brooke. She is also survived by her niece, Karen (Jim), and was pre-deceased by her sister and best friend, Elsie Keeley.rnrnCome celebrate 79 family centered years, Saturday 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.
