Ronald Titus

Ronald Wilmot “Ron” Titus, age 79, died Jan. 19, 2024, at home in Woolwich Township, N.J.

Ron, a lifelong resident of New Jersey, was born April 8, 1944, in Penns Grove to Raymond and Evelyn (née Wilmot) Titus and grew up in Pedricktown. After graduating from Penns Grove High School in 1962, he earned an associates degree from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Del. (circa 1966) and a bachelor’s degree in 1968 from the University of Baltimore in Maryland. Ron spent almost his entire professional career working for DuPont in a variety of management positions. He was employed at the Chambers Works facility in Deepwater, N.J., for approximately 30 years, then worked as a contractor at the Belcan and Experimental Station facilities in Wilmington before retiring in 2019. Ron’s work ethic and dedication to doing any job, and doing it right, were unparalleled; he truly embodied the spirit of Titus 3:1—“Be ready for any honest work.” But what he loved most was being with family and sharing good times with friends. He spent many a year watching football, baseball and horse racing; enjoying the annual Titus family invasion of Ocean City, N.J.; unwinding at “the Office” in Penns Grove; relishing a great meal; and traveling with his loving wife and companion of 35 years, Linda (née Croce, of Gibbstown, N.J.). “Frankie,” as she is fondly known, was Ron’s perfect partner in spirit and humor, and they made quite the fun-loving pair.

In addition to Linda, Ron is survived by his children, Greg (wife: Hope) and Christa Titus (both of Thorofare, N.J.), Jennifer Russell (née Pollock; Jason; Wenonah, N.J.) and Jacob Pollock (Bridgeport, N.J.); his grandchildren, Renee Conway (Mark Melson), Aristotle and Lucien Maule, and Aaron Hill; and his great-grandchildren, Lilly and Mark Melson. He is also survived by: sister Gail Niebauer (Pedricktown, N.J.); brother-in-law Joseph Croce (Tracey; Midlothian, Va.); sister-in-law Barbara Titus; nieces Donna Stroka, Colleen Borbone (Joseph; son Ryan), Angela Howeter (Will) and Dineen Titus; nephews Mark (Kathryn), Kevin (Lisa), Matthew and Glenn Titus (Monica), Joe Croce Jr. (Melissa) and Larry and Jason Yocum; great-nieces Jessica Stroka and Gabriella and Adriana Titus; great-nephews Shane (Erica), Michael (Kristen) and Alexander Titus; great-great nieces Katherine, Addison and Ava Titus; great-great nephews Logan and Jaxon Titus; former spouse Elaine Titus (Brian Stockton); former sister-in-law Pamela Yocum (Michael McCool); and many friends.

Ron was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Raymond, Willard and Robert; his brothers-in-law Wayne Niebauer and Larry Yocum; his sisters-in-law Kathryn Lovell and Shirley Titus; his dear friend Randall Pollock; his nephews Michael Titus and John Stroka; his in-laws Aileen Kelling and Leonard and Helen Zaroda, and many other beloved relatives and friends.

A celebration of Ron’s life is scheduled for Jan. 26 at Daley Life Celebration Studio (1518 Kings Highway, Swedesboro, N.J.), which is hosting the visitation (from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.) and the service (11 a.m.). Interment immediately follows at Lake Park Cemetery (701 Park Ave., Woolwich Township, N.J.). Botto’s Italian Line Restaurant (1411 Kings Highway, Swedesboro) will host the reception. Anyone wishing to make a charitable donation in Ron’s honor may gift it to Boys Town or an organization of your choice.
