Robert W. Hardy

Robert W. Hardy

Robert William Hardy was born October 18th, 1938 in Camden, New Jersey, son of Elva M and Robert J Hardy. He spent the first 40 years of his life in Camden, New Jersey and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School before enlisting in the Marines.
Brother to Patrick J Hardy. Husband to his deceased wife Peggy. Father of Robert, William “Billy”, James, Catherine, Timothy, Patricia, Theresa and Sarah. Father-in-law to Mary, Tracy, Gail, Christopher, Paul, Ryan and Bobby.
Husband to Florence Collins Hardy. He was a loving grandfather and great grandfather to many wonderful children and families.
He was a man of faith, a man of honor, and a man of service; he was a man of singular strength. He instilled in all of us the need to strive for excellence. He committed his life to serving his Lord, and brought that faith into his work as a marine, a father, a Catholic deacon, a chaplain. He also acted as a prison chaplain, a leader of both men and youth groups and retreat leader and speaker. It was his commitment to seek and pray with a stranger every day as an act of service. Being open to God’s healing spirit enabled him to sense a person that needed a kind word or prayer. He was spiritually grounded in faith to talk and walk with strangers, always walking by faith and trusting in Jesus.
Robert touched the lives of many people of all ages and backgrounds – a shining light reflecting Jesus and Jesus alone. His light will shine on through all the people who had the privilege of knowing him.
