Henrietta “Hank” Comegno

Henrietta “Hank” Comegno

Henrietta was a woman of style, heart, and song, known to many simply as Hank. Hank grew up in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Burlington, NJ after high school to work at the original Burlington Coat Factory. Burlington, NJ is where she met and married the love of her life, Vincent, to whom she was married to for 64 years. A couple years after marrying, they moved to Riverside, NJ to raise their family becoming lifelong residents.

If it was a Friday, chances are you could find Hank at the hairdresser, getting her hair perfectly set for the weekend ahead. She never left the house underdressed and had a sense of style all her own: classic and confident. Over the years, she became “Mama Hank”, a title that spoke to who she truly was. Through her 29 year career at Holy Cross High School working first in the kitchen then the office, she earned a reputation as a mother to all, offering care, guidance, and love to any student who needed it. She was endlessly creative. Hank found joy in making beautiful ceramics and had such a gift for baking and decorating cakes. Her beautifully crafted cakes were a staple at holidays and special occasions, each one made with pride. Holidays were especially dear to her heart, made even sweeter with everyone nearby. Every Fourth of July, she opened her home for pool parties that brought all her children together, creating traditions filled with laughter and togetherness. Music was another great passion in her life. Blessed with a beautiful voice, Hank sang with three choir groups: St. Peter’s Church, the Cinnaminson Community Chorus, and the Burlington Entertainers.

Hank is predeceased by her parents John and Emilia Oczkowicz and her husband Vincent. She is survived by her children: Vincent (Daryl Jeanne), Deborah, Cynthia Moffett and Laurie Player (Greg); grandchildren: Paul Comegno (Tessa), John Comegno , Leila-Jeanne LeBeau (Tyler), Gregory Player (Jaime), Jennifer Freih (Matthew) and Michelle Smit (Johannes); great-grandchildren: Emilia, Clifton, Matthew, Simon, Everleigh, Jackson and Emerson; two step great-grandchildren: Elise and Oliver; her “adopted” daughter Gina Canduci Turner and her family; her sister-in-laws: Ann Oskowis and Dolores Comegno. She is also predeceased by her siblings: Frances and Theresa; and half siblings: Elizabeth, Richard and John.

She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Come celebrate 93 great years on Friday February 6, 2026 from 9:30am-11:00am at St Katharine Drexel Parish (St. Paul’s) 223 E. Union Street, Burlington NJ 08016. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30am. Interment immediately to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Riverside NJ.
