Diane Archer

September 1, 2023, Diane Archer, 70, of Logan Township, NJ passed away peacefully with her beloved husband Martin by her side. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 7, 1952, to the late Johnnie and Narcie Mathis. She received her formal education in the Philadelphia public school system.Diane retired from the school district of Philadelphia in 1995, where she served as a teacher’s aide and school bus attendant. She worked with school staff and families to motivate students and provide a safe learning environment.Diane met and fell in love with a “handsome fella”, Martin Archer, in 1977. They were married July 14, 1990. His constant refrain “Yes Dear” and strict adherence to his “Honey Do” list enabled their joyous and loving 46-year relationship. When Diane became ill and battled various medical ailments, Martin became her primary caretaker. He made sure she went to her many doctor’s appointments and provided home care to aid in maintaining her quality of life. Martin stayed true to his marriage vows of “in sickness and in health” right up to her passing. Diane was a devoted mom and grandmother who adored her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed  cooking a variety of food and entertaining family and friends. Her favorite pastime included watching “All My Children” and playing the slot machines in Atlantic City and Chester. In addition to her many trips to Atlantic City, she especially loved traveling to Wildwood and cruising with family and friends.Diane and Martin moved to Logan Township, NJ in 2008 after raising their children in Philadelphia. There they enjoyed many years of retirement together.Diane was predeceased by her son, Tracey; parents, Johnnie and Narcie Mathis; brothers, Jonnie, Freddie and Tyrone Mathis; sister Paulette Smalls and brother-in-law, Nathaniel Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband, Martin; sons Martin Jr. (Doniele), Danny (Gwen) and Richard (Laura); daughters, Adrea (Travis) and Melissa; 15 grandchildren (Kiana, Donyae, Travonna, Isaiah, Ahmad, De Yona, Nigel, Jordan, Isabella, Arianna, Sophia, Julian, Emmerie, Cassius and Noah); and two great-children. She also leaves behind a brother, Donald Mathis; sister, Shirley Ford (Kevin); brother-in law, Ronald Archer and sister-in-law, Marcella Archer. She also leaves to mourn a whole host of family and friends (who she always considered family).

Come celebrate 70 great years Saturday September 9, 9-11 a.m. at Living Hope Worship Center, 1566 Center Square Road, Logan Twp where there will be an 11 a.m. service. Interment to follow at Lake Park Cemetery, Woolwich Twp.
