Aregash Ayele Habtu

Aregash Ayele Habtu, loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many passed away on July 18, 2023, surrounded by her grandchildren, daughters, and son-in-law. She was 87 years old. Aregash was born in Port Sudan, Sudan, the oldest of four children. After marrying her husband Semo Dess-alegn, she moved to Liberia and eventually Ethiopia, where she had her two daughters, Bazghina-Werq and Maedot. Aregash had a long career with the United Nations inEthiopia, where she worked for more than 25 years. In her retirement years, she split her time between caring for her aging mother, and helping care for her grandchildren here in the United States. A devout Christian, Aregash’s spirituality is what brought her peace throughout her life. She spent many hours each day in prayer, meditation, and reading God’s word. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and her gentle soul.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, July 22, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, 1518 Kings Highway, Swedesboro, NJ where there will be a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, Woolwich Twp.
