Giancarlo Benjamin Capozzoli
Giancarlo was the happiest boy; his joy was truly contagious. Despite the daily medical interventions, he carried a perpetual smile that brightened every room. He loved attention — especially being held — and everyone around him was eager to give it to him: family, friends, doctors, and nurses alike. Though profoundly deaf, Giancarlo’s communication skills were remarkable. He lit up whenever he saw someone signing. Giancarlo’s weekly music therapy, PT, and OT sessions were the highlight of his days. He also loved his Winnie the Pooh toy, picture books, and the stars projected on his bedroom ceiling.
Christmas Eve delivered him as the perfect gift to his parents, Benjamin and Gabriella (D’Amico) Capozzoli and his grandparents, Daniel and Jill Capozzoli and Albert and Donna D’Amico.
Come celebrate 15 miraculous months of Giancarlo, Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, 1518 Kings Highway Swedesboro. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph’s Church, 130 Broad Street, Swedesboro. Interment to follow at Lake Park Cemetery, Woolwich.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to support the Mitochondrial Medicine Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dear Ben and Gabby, Capozzoli and D’Amico Family,
Giancarlo and you taught me so much since he was born about Loving Purely- with amazing resilience and strength God allowed little Giancarlo to project joy through suffering and pain and shine his light on more people than you could know. His and your journeys will never be forgotten. May he be delighting in the singing of angels in heaven on Jesus’’ lap right now. Courage, Peace and Love to you all.

Baby G caused me to continually turn to the holy family in prayer during his 15 miraculous months and I know his prayers in heaven will bear even greater fruit.

Giancarlo was the happiest boy cared for by two very caring parents. You both stayed resilient and positive during the long PICU stay that he had and I will always admire that about you both. I am truly heartbroken for your family but I hope you remember the positive moments of your time with Giancarlo in the PICU. Those moments were everything! I will pray for you and Giancarlo and your family.
It was truly a pleasure taking care of your beautiful baby during his time in the PCU. Prayers for his wonderful parents and family.

Ben and Gabby, although his stay here on earth was short…I bet not a day went by that he didn’t feel loved by those who were faithfully and tenderly caring for him.
Praying you feel the presence of Christ during this sad time as he faithfully and tenderly is caring for you.
The loss of a child is a pain that words cannot heal. What an incredibale impact Giancarlo made on your lives and all those around him at CHOP during his short time here. I am so happy I had the opportunity to to meet your sweet little boy. Be kind to yourselves.
