Anita Marris
A true social butterfly, Anita never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation anywhere she went, even as far as Florida, where she somehow always managed to meet someone from New Jersey. For Anita, family always came first. She loved bringing everyone together and was happiest hosting family picnics, trips, and celebrations. She was endlessly talented and completely self-taught, a creative force who could do just about anything with her hands. Known as the family’s “professional gift wrapper,” Anita also created beautiful flower arrangements for her grandchildren’s weddings and special occasions. No detail was ever overlooked. She was an accomplished painter who loved filling canvases with beauty, and a talented seamstress who could sew anything, and iron everything, right down to the socks. Her bows were a statement of her home decor. Anita enjoyed playing cards with her best friends and occasional trips to the casino. She traveled from Europe to Hawaii, South America to Panama, and more than a dozen cruises in between. Wherever she traveled, she made sure to find a church, grounding her journeys in faith. She also loved camping, proving she was just as happy roughing it as she was cruising the seas. Anita volunteered her time at St. Joe’s and was actively involved in the Altar Rosary and Women’s Club, always giving back and staying connected to her community. She loved music and enjoyed singing to her favorite songs.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Diane) Marris, Linda (Mike) Lallo, and daughter in law Brenda Marris; grandchildren: Chris (Jess), Melissa (Pete), Nick (Lisa), Laura and Nikki; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Zoe, Logan, Matias, Natalie, Lia, and Joseph; her siblings: Rose Schuck and Lucille Jennings. Anita was predeceased by her husband, James “Matty” Marris, her sons: Jim and Tom; her grandson: Will; her siblings: Jackie, Casper, and Carol. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Services were held privately by the family.
