Roy James Mendez

He excelled in athletics, dominating in football, baseball and wrestling. With football it was his sheer size: “Don’t call me Mendez.” In baseball it was talent: Roy could bat from either side of the plate and threw in the nineties in his early teens. And in wrestling it was his reliance on the bulldog: 14 pins with 4 losses, having never been pinned himself. And he remained competitive into his adult years playing a little softball, bowling and cornhole. He lived a life free of fear and found the perfect job as a bridge painter with local 2011. Of course, his real career was as a dad; Roy and Serenity would both beam when they saw each other and she was always by his side. He cheered for the Phillies and the Eagles; his voice would carry to the stadium. He was a wiz behind the stove: a master of steak and beans and always looking into some new recipe. He stuck to his gym routine, always had a smile on his face, and had a little gamble in him, especially blackjack. He lived in Deepwater and was a graduate of Pennsville High School.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Fayth Eisiminger; his mother, Tammie Mendez; his siblings, Chelsea Renee Keen (Mike), Georgeana Tighe, Brandon and Brenda Mendez, and Bobbi Lee Mendez; grandparents, Betty and Samuel Reeves, the late Roy Foster, Noelia Mendez and Armondo Sanchez “Cuba”; his aunt Candi and uncle Brian; his best friends, Paul Jeffreys and Jake Straub and close cousins, Alex Mendez, CJ, Luckas and Chico Mendez.

Come celebrate 25 great years Monday, September 15, 9-11 a.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro where there will be an 11 a.m. service. Interment Lake Park Cemetery.
